Introduction to Endoscopic Biopsy Forceps

What are endoscopic biopsy forceps?

Endoscopic biopsy forceps are available in various types, such as round cup shape, tooth cup shape, standard type, side opening type, and tip with needle type. The endoscopic biopsy forceps are mainly connected by laser welding, and laser welding can be realized by continuous or pulsed laser beams.

Laser radiation heats the surface to be processed, and the surface heat diffuses to the interior through thermal conduction. By controlling the laser parameters such as the width, energy, peak power and repetition frequency of the laser pulse, the workpiece is melted to form a specific molten pool.

The energy conversion mechanism is achieved through a "pinhole" structure. The endoscopic single use biopsy forceps are irradiated with a sufficiently high power density laser to vaporize the material and form pores. The steam-filled hole acts like a black body, absorbing almost all the energy of the incoming beam of the endoscopic biopsy forceps.

The equilibrium temperature in the hole of the endoscope biopsy forceps is about 2500°C, and the heat is transferred from the outer wall of the high temperature hole to melt the metal around the hole.

The small hole is filled with high-temperature steam generated by the continuous evaporation of the wall material under the irradiation of the beam, the four walls of the small hole are surrounded by molten metal, and the liquid metal is surrounded by solid materials.

Liquid flow and wall tension outside the pore walls are in dynamic equilibrium with the continuous vapor pressure inside the pore. The light beam of the endoscope biopsy forceps continuously enters the hole, and the material outside the hole flows continuously. With the movement of the light beam, the hole is always in a stable flow state.

That is the keyhole of the hole and the molten metal around the hole wall move forward with the advancing speed of the guide beam. The molten metal fills the voids left by the removal of the holes and condenses, forming the weld.

All of the above processes happen so quickly that welding speeds can easily reach several meters per minute. This is the mechanism by which the threaded cavity of the endoscopic biopsy forceps is formed.

Therefore, once the thread of the biopsy forceps is broken, it cannot be repaired with common welding, and a metal barb will be formed. In recent years, most biopsy forceps have adopted a rigid four-link structure, which makes the use of biopsy forceps more convenient.
